Yes, we have the right to choose, but it should only be physician assisted in the case of a terminal illness. Mental illness is a different case because the person is emotionally unstable and might not make the decision to die if they were in their right mind.
Yes. It hurts me to think that people who have an illness that will kill them very soon are left to suffer in agonizing pain until they die. I believe that person should have the right to put an end to their suffering.
I do however believe that each person should be counted against a criteria, suicide is something that should be prevented in most cases. In cases involving mental illnesses, I strongly believe that there are various other means of treatment and that taking their life is not the best solution. This also takes into account their current mental state, family and health professionals should have a right to assess and decide for/with a patient because said patient might not be in a stable mental state where they should be making decisions such as that.
