So lately I've been getting messages from so many online scammers that idk what to do with myself. Today for example, some guy pretends to work for Microsoft saying my computer is unprotected and my wifi is going to be shut down unless they do an immediate fix to my computer for an hour using remote access

I almost gave him access but me and my paranoid self was like "what's your Microsoft ID? Who is your manager? What department do you work in? What is your desk phone number? etc". Anyways the number he gave me was a known fake scam number (I looked it up after I ended the call) and you can tell he wasn't trustworthy by the way he spoke over the phone. He would repeat key phrases like "we need your access now" "I work for Microsoft Help and Support" "I can show you what's wrong with your PC but I need access"

Have you guys had any run ins with online scammers? What happened? Why are there so many of them?

There are other examples but those ones are from craigslist so I should have known better.

I keep getting emails from Nigerian princes who want to donate their inheritance to me. But they need me to transfer £200 into their account first so that they can determine if I'm a real person. I laugh tbh

Oh I forgot about those I get those too on my hotmail account.

I'm so annoyed I just don't understand who has the time to send these in 2015??? Or to lie on the phone and pretend to work for Microsoft? Wtf?

I love reading my spam mail.

There must be people dumb/greedy enough to believe them and keep the scammers profiting

I also keep getting calls from random numbers and when I answer they're like 'our records show you've recently been in an accident' and I'm like no wtf and they proceed to tell me about all the compensation I could get if I just provide my bank details
