I must have missed JLo's imperial phase somehow? I remember her being a regular tabloid fixture (mostly for her relationship with Ben Affleck) and a couple trailers for some films she was in (including Gigli, ki), but beyond that: nothing. That she was apparently a massive star is news to me.
It's weird how Paula Abdul had like 6 seasons on Idol to use it to revive her career and she didn't. All I remember is that really bad autotune song she performed.

She used it to get a platform to return to popularity and launch her own reality show. Not to mention she used it to get a slot on the Superbowl to sing her new song and release a GH. She tried to revive it, it just didn't work out cuz she was an incoherent drunk.
I've seen her have a great time performing but this show was the happiest she's been.
