When did I once say that I think this album is gonna be dance/pop?
I wanted Rihanna to continue experimenting different sounds, I wanted to hear the "timeless songs" that she could perform in 10 years. Do you really think her urban/hip hop songs are really gonna stand the test of time? in 10 years Rihanna will be 37.. She will not be performing songs like BBHMM, Fresh Off The Runway, Birthday Cake, Cockiness, Pour It Up.
Rihanna's been releasing pop music from 2005-2012, her music in that time period is what obviously made us all big fans, and Rihanna's always said that she makes music she likes.. so I wouldn't say shes "soooo over" pop music, I would say that she wants to explore and experiment more with urban/hip hop music.
Also lets not forget that Rihanna's pop albums are her biggest selling worldwide, and all of her biggest hits are pop. And in 10 years time I can still see Rihanna performing most of her pop songs, but her urban/hip hop songs? no way.
I do enjoy some of Rihanna's urban songs, but for me her pop songs have aged better and are much better songs. And she always performs her pop songs/ballads better live but that's just my opinion
Anyway how long have you been working with Rihanna and her team? .. how do you know that the album is full of midtempo bangers and ballads? none of us know nothing.
