Hell YES! But the problem I have with a lot of the cultural appropriation outrage (much like the BLM activists in an earlier thread) is that the focus is all wrong. Like, if you've a problem with black people being deemed unprofessional for wearing their hair in their natural texture, the productive thing to do is maybe to encourage black celebrities to starting wearing natural styles to break down those stereotypes, or to expose and give negative press to businesses and corporations that discourage blacks from wearing those styles, etc. NOT leaving negative comments on Kylie Jenner or that random 12yo white girl's instagram page or spending all day reblogging angry tumblr posts about them.

Maybe it's because I consider myself an egalitarian, I believe blacks should be able to wear dreads, afros, or silky straight blonde weaves without being judged for any of them, just as whites/asians/latinas etc should be able to do the same. The problem that I have with a lot of these SJWs is that they seem to be trying to restrict what whites or people of a certain race CAN do... Restricting self expression whether it be forcefully, or through societal pressure (ie: the fear of backlash for a hairstyle), is almost always a no-no for me. But maybe I'm wrong, and it's more productive and desirable to restrict what people can do based on their race, than it is to break down negative stereotypes so everyone can express themselves freely and equally :/

and inb4 "white tears! white gay!" Black/Hispanic gay progressive here, who identifies with a lot of social issues while finding a LOT of people to take them way too far or to go about them in the wrong way (cultural appropriation being the biggest example).

My general rule of thumb is that any appropriation designed to MOCK or belittle a culture is inappropriate.
