Zonoobi, a carpenter from the Iranian city of Shiraz, arrived in Germany with his wife and two children five months ago. He is one of hundreds of mostly Iranian and Afghan asylum seekers who have converted to Christianity at the evangelical Trinity Church in a leafy Berlin neighborhood.
Like Zonoobi, most say true belief prompted their embrace of Christianity. But theres no overlooking the fact that the decision will also greatly boost their chances of winning asylum by allowing them to claim they would face persecution if sent home.
Martens recognizes that some convert in order to improve their chances of staying in Germany but for the pastor motivation is unimportant. Many, he said, are so taken by the Christian message that it changes their lives. And he estimates that only about 10 percent of converts do not return to church after christening.
I know there are again and again people coming here because they have some kind of hope regarding their asylum, Martens said. I am inviting them to join us because I know that whoever comes here will not be left unchanged.

And before anyone tries to say "they are just faking it to stay" they have to renounce Islam during their conversion. It doesn't get much more serious than that.
The nerve of people in here claiming their religion is better than others when there is literally 0 proof or evidence to support any of these religions . It's especially messy coming from people who are likely gay, especially considering that the great religion that they speak of condemns their "lifestyle".

The acts of one extremist group who call themselves "Muslims" while not following the religion AT ALL (ending the life of any human being is an unforgivable sin) does not reflect an entire religious group...that's like saying all white Christians are KKK members. Neither are true
Kinda sad tbh. I mean I don't care what religion someone is, but they probably only did it because they think Europe is islamophobic as **** and wouldn't be able to stay.
This is bad news. Refugees will do and say anything to fight for their own survival and that of their children, which isn't a bad thing, but one that is honest. They have traveled hundreds of miles and watched people drop dead next to them on such horrendous journeys. Anyone that thinks they wouldn't "renounce" Islam to gain entry into Germany is delusional to their situation. Germany shouldn't be playing favoritism in this situation, which is bigger than religion itself.
