One day my brother and I were playing pretending we were "dogs" so we were like woof-ing and making a lot of noise and stuff, so my dad told me that if I woofed like a dog I would become one and I actually believed him for some time, lmao (obivously I only believed that while I was still a kid)

That made me choke I was laying down and reading this and ooh girl

My mom use to tell me I should look at empty seats before I sit down because there might be a needle/something sharp and I could get awful diseases from that.

Same with using flip flops in the street.

Also not sleeping with the heater on because I might die from asphyxiation.

My good christian grandmother always told me that if I watched stray dogs copulate, I would get pink eye.

The joke was on her when I purposely watched dogs do the nasty, hoping to get pink eye, so that I could miss school.

Something somewhat similar to you sister:

My sister was never told this by anyone, but when she was little she made the assumption that touching black/brown things would turn her black. She was unusually pale for a latina, so she took pride in being "chele" and thought being brown was gross. She refused to eat chocolate, coke, etc. One day, my mom's friend, a dark male, came to visit us. When he saw my sister, he went to pick her up and hug her, and my sister flipped **** and started crying. She ran off in to her room and would not come out because she was still trying to come to terms with her "transformation".

One of my biggest fears is that someday some mom will use me as the senor with her children if I go to the mall I don't want to be an example
