The Spice Girls, with over 85 million physical records sold WW, have both the biggest selling album by a female pop group as well as single but also are single-handedly the biggest girl group ever. After the end of the Pussycat Dolls, many people believed that there was never going to be anymore support for girl groups in music.
Now that time has slightly moves on, it seems girl groups are making a comeback. Prominent in East Asian countries already, the West has also been seeing the likes of Little Mix and Fifth Harmony finding success, with more and more girl groups being formed as well as auditioning.
Girl groups that are still active and have sold a fair bit include Korean girl groups 2NE1 and Girls Generation, selling 65 and 43 million digital sales.
So the question remains, do you see any of these new forming girl groups, or existing ones topping the Spice Girls? Or better yet, can you see any girl group in the future ever having the sales and impact that the Spice Girls have had.
