The 'racism' would have been more prominent if there was a black crew member in the video. Considering the timeline and the given situation of helpers-actors, it was wise of Kahn not to include black crew members because it would have been reminiscent of colonialism. But like I said, damn if you do, damn if you don't. No black people in the video = backlash. Black people in the video = bigger backlash.

The point is that there was no need to set the video in an era and in a place that comes with such a troubled backstory! Yes, either way would've been problematic and by extension most likely racist, so the best solution would be to stay in her lane and make music videos that aren't offensive
