There's consistency of Miley's art in every field though. From her performances, to her music, to her public persona, it's all explicitly Miley. She's not trying to prove herself to everyone, she's just being herself and anyone that enjoys who she is is welcome to come along for the ride. If she was truly a "try hard" she would be trying to make commercial music, but she's not. She's putting her work in the public domain for free, allowing everyone to pick her apart and call her fake when she knows that they will. But she still doesn't give a ****, and that makes her so genuine.

But Americana as a vessel for ideas about "new society" and whatnot has been become so overused by artists in Halsey/Lana's vein. I get what she's trying to say, but she somehow thinks that because our current society has evolved makes our/her generation special when social change happens regardless of the generation. She's just really bland to me artistically. I don't get why people have gravitated so much to her when nothing she has done is really that great.
