Wrecking Ball, Drive, Adore You, these are all solid pop tracks. But Bangerz also had its share of fillers and cringeworthy cheese like SMS, we cant stop, and Love Money Party. Sure some people are too easily swayed by the insinuation of "experimentation" but in the same vein a lot of people are too easily swayed by the post-modern admiration of unabashed superficial pop records.
If this were some totally weakass attempt at miley releasing something for lack of a better term "indie" than i wouldnt have anything positive to say about it. but the truth of the matter is, there are some strong tracks here (something about space, tangerine, the floyd song). And I think while they're not strong in the same way that wrecking ball is strong, because clearly theyre not top 40 fodder, it doesnt negate the fact that theyre
not lacking credibility. and her guerilla releasing it on soundcloud is a commendable move imo. its easy to roll your eyes and say **** miley and usually i wouldnt disagree, but ive gotta say, dead petz really isnt the ingenuine piece of crap one would assume it to be.
(albeit, there are still some cringeworthy songs on it of course, imo. but i still respect them more than love money party and SMS).
