Well basically 99.9% of sins are forgivable including abortion. This isn't news at all.

I've held the hand of two women during the abortion process. Both found the experience really quite devastating and regretted it. I don't think enough information is given to women who elect to have abortions.

Pope Francis is extremely progressive for a Pope, and any concessions on their hardline approach is positive IMO. I think they've pulled back on the "any unbaptised children who die go to Limbo forever" a while back, also.

Pope Francis is doing anything to keep up with today's social changes and I admire him for that.

The Pope is not condoning abortion. He didn't change his views on it. It's still a grave sin but he is just basically saying that, just like any other sin, abortion can be forgiven if those women who had abortion seek forgiveness and repent, and also to ease the burden of guilt and grief on those women who went through this agonizing and painful decision.

Well I don't think that abortion is a sin at all but if he said that women can seek forgiveness all the time just like for example murderers, rapists, and pedophile priests, I would clap for baby steps taken. But giving a time frame is just ridiculous and incredibly sexist.
