My parents are like the most homophobic and transphobic people I know. When something about LGBTQ stuff comes on the TV they go all uncomfortable and disgusted and I just lmao.
I told my uncle and grandma to **** off at Christmas dinner after they said some homophobic **** and I ironically flirt with my homophobic step father when my mum isn't around
I dont talk to my extended family because they live in many different places so its hard to stay in touch. I only talk to my mother, father and brother, all of which are pro-gay rights and marriage. I have never had an issue with my family over any of my identities
Honestly, I haven't dealt with homophobia from 99% of my family members. Most are really cool, and many (including the ones I hadn't seen in nearly a decade) have met my boyfriend and loved him. I'm really lucky. As for the others, **** them.
Yes, even If I pretend not to care in the end I'll always have some sort of attachment.
Unfortunately for me, basically all of my family are religious and Jamaican so the homophobia is STRONG. I keep my distance and don't call unless I need $$$$
