Madonna is a great example of reinvention and implementing gimmicks into her art.

It worked well for Gaga for a couple of years, but she lost her inspiration or ran out of good ideas.

All pop girls have used gimmicks throughout their carreers (with the notable exceptions of Adele and Céline Dion).

It's just the truth. Madonna's antics was a huge part of her success and what fueled the media's interest.

She wasn't and isn't an Adele-like figure that just stands there and sings.

Some of the things Madonna did were truly gimmicks for attention, but some were important socio-political statements/things she felt the need to address when only few dared, and some just artistic expression, her personality coming through. But most often everything of the above at once. Madonna truly is a legend who used gimmicks mostly in the right way for the right purposes.

Ya her gimmicks, while certainly courting attention, had progressive notions and essentially paved the way for artists to be able to do what she did without it being called a gimmick.

Firstly Gaga is copying Madonna which means that Madonna is the queen of gimmicks, then Gaga uses more gimmicks than Madonna.

To say that Gaga ran out of good ideas is stupid.

She had one underperforming album that still performed better than most albums.. that's not running out of good ideas. If she has like 3 more then yes, she ran out. But come on.

OT: Gaga is the definition of gimmicky. She has a lot of innovative ideas, although not all of them worked out well.

And gimmicks don't sell music. If they did, Miley's Bangerz would have pulled TFM numbers.

Gaga's career being "based on gimmicks" is the biggest and fattest lie ever. She has some of the best selling songs and albums of ALL time, literally

She has 6 grammys etc. and she is one of the most acclaimed pop stars of all time and easily one of the best of this generation.

How is her career based on gimmicks ? What gimmick did Just Dance need to smash ? Poker Face ? Paparazzi ? Bad Romance ? Telephone ? Born This Way album ? TFM album ? like

if People bought music because you are wearing meat, then labels would be putting meat on EVERY ARTIST in hope that they will sell even a fraction of what Gaga sold
