Sad that he didn't quite reach Usher's status/success (for comparison purposes, Confessions sold over 10 million copies in the US alone).

It's not really sad. Usher didn't beat up another major star nor had a huge scandal in the midst of his career. Plus, R&B doesn't sell nearly as much as it did when Confessions was released. He's done AMAZINGLY considering.
