With the major success Taylor has had in the pop world, and considering that her label seems to be pretty good at handling her, should Big Machine Records branch out into signing more pop artists?
I'm pretty sure they want to stick with what they know. They even wanted to promote 1989 to country audiences with radio remixes and pressured Taylor to include at least one country song.
The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, and Jennifer Nettles are all BMR artists that have tried crossing over. They don't have the material or proper support to make it happen. Plus they have a ton of other acts that are technically more pop than country, even if they pass for country and only promote there.
Taylor is BMR's exception.
They haven't proven they can break another actual crossover act yet, so I don't think they can handle a full blown pop act that isn't Taylor.
