I think so. Just look at ATRLHQ. People are getting up in arms about smilies and crap like that. Unless somebody threatens murder or says something bad about P!nk, there is no reason to report. Like, don't stan for a lesser act if you can't handle shade. Anyway, I think the world is heading to a bad place. It's too PC, even at the university level, a place that's supposed to be about learning and growth
I am offended by straight, white 15 year old boys at my rich high school who are so stupid and act like being Gay is a joke. It makes me want to fight them and I actually am strong enough to make their face swell.
None of them have Gay friends, none. Its like try being in my shoes.
Like someone said before, it's like people want to be offended by things. Like when they go into threads of artists they clearly don't like and say how annoying they are, what's the point? I think some people live for that.
Yes. Take Iggy Azalea for example. Tumblr and Twitter seriously damaged her career because they were so god damn offended that she's a white rapper
not sure if you're trolling rn but you damn well thats totally different. There are things that are offensive and things that aren't and iggy is the embodiment of offensive. Don't try it.
I wouldn't say "lax as ****" because racism, sexism, homophobia, etc exists in real life and it hurts people but I agree with you to an extent because at least in my experience, I don't know anyone who gives much of a **** about the things people go on about on social media as far as social issues, all the rants, social justice hashtags, petitions, etc.
Sometimes my friends make terrible jokes and I can't help but think "Omg if they would have said that on Twitter or Tumblr they would have doxxed their ass and tried to ruin their life" and that really puts it into perspective for me how different my real life is from what I see online everyday.
I think irrationalising people actually being offended not only trivialises important issues but also diverts the conversation. So no. I don't see anything wrong with being politically correct and considerate of people's cultures/beliefs/customs etc. If you have to resort to mocking someone's race/beliefs/culture then you're not a good comedian. I'm an out & proud SJW.
but that's not the problem. like i see all the time people claiming "stupid" is a slur like the N word and you therefore shouldn't say it and if you do you're evil and deserve to be doxed. i think we can agree that that's pretty ridiculous. that's what i mean when i say too easily offended; people getting offended not by being sensitive to things but by things that are totally out there and don't matter at all
