This is a surprise. I really thought akb48 would have died out once the original members graduated.

On Amazon the cheapest edition is ￥ 1,350 ($11 US). That's crazy. People shade these girls for only being relevant in one territory but seriously, imagine if an American artist released an album every 3 months or so and sold 1-2 million every time. Seriously impressive.

13,057,000 USD / 1.29 USD = 10,121,705 US iTunes equivalent sales. One one day.

Anything else is just a bonus for their producers.


And just imagine how much money Jpop stars must have if they've sold several million albums.

1 million albums x 30 USD = 30 MILLION USD

Even if you only give the artist 5%, that's still 1.5 MILLION USD. Women like Ayu, Namie, and Utada have to be loaded.
