I find this hard to believe. Even if you go to a middle eastern country as a woman, you will still be repressed, you still may get raped or stoned for not wearing appropriate clothing.
If you go to a middle eastern or African Islam dominated country as a gay person, you can get hanged(hung, legally), you may be thrown in jail, you may be tortured, your friends may turn you into the corrupt police system which will then torture you and or kill you if you do not pay.


All acts from people who aren't apart of ISIS, but all influenced by and deviated from the Islamic religion.

I actually live in a city where about 1 in 4 people are muslims, and none of them have ever tried to kill me, or impose Sharia Law. I think the ones that are terrorists are a minority. Obviously it's a huge problem, I would like everybody in ISIS to be killed, however, I also don't think it's fair to punish innocent people for a crime they haven't committed. We need to act rational in this situation. It might be "easier" to punish all muslims for the actions of ISIS, but it's certainly not fair.

I would bet anything you do not even know what the capital of Syria is yet you are here making sweeping generalizations about the entire Middle East region and its people. ISIS is a savage minority gang with financial capital gained from government agencies and Muslim followers in Europe and the U.S.. ISIS is on a nation-building conquest of murder, torture, land-stealing, enslavement, and forced conversion under the veneer of it being by God not unlike how most nations in this world were formed including the United States. The difference is they will not sustain in the long-term and succeed in their goal. The sovereignty of Iraq and Syria still remain despite the violence. Assad and Abadi are still in power.

Isis is way more extreme than the average muslim but a lot of muslims seem atrociously behind in terms of equality as the OP highlights this thread wont last long though

However that doesn't mean that 'moderate' Islam is not open to criticism. The treatment of women and sexual minorities in the Islamic world is unacceptable and the 'different culture' excuse is frankly ********.

Do you know how many people have been trying to escape ISIS? Turkey the other day closed it's borders off to people trying to migrate in from Syria. These people are NOT exactly like ISIS. They are trying to ESCAPE them.

I would rather have someone who has actually lived and experienced these countries first-hand tell me about Islamic culture over someone who has just done "research".
