I think what you want to do is bevel/emboss the text. Photoshop has it in as a text filter.

Yep it's Bevel and Emboss. I'm a graphic designer it's it's one thing I never go near. Flat vector based designs are the "in" thing at the moment so Bevel and Emboss ends up looking really dated. Don't know what her team were thinking. The deluxe edition text >>>>
