Even as a fan I feel like she was overrated during her peak. She was definetely the "American Darling" during 2001/2003. Had consecutive hits, endorsements and succesful movies. At that time JLo really owned. Now i feel like she is fairly placed in the show bizz. She is seen as an Icon in all aspects and is currently in a stage of her life where she doesn't really need a hit to sustain her image like some newcomers...

She is underrated as a performer. As a popstar, she is kinda not given enough credit. J. Lo has a nice catalog of hits but since she is no artist and doesnt pretend to be one and her music is trash beyond the singles most people forget that.

Nothing about her is underrated. She's respected as a performer and model as she should and isn't respected as a musician because she doesn't deserve to. Her music is literal garbage outside of a few singles. She doesn't have a single good album and her vocals probably are amongst the worst in pop music. She ain't underrated at all

She became the first female artist to create a huge successful global empire from all aspects of the entertainment business that includes #1 albums, #1 singles, #1 films (as a leading actress), #1 perfumes, #1 TV shows, a NY Times Best Seller book, and a successful clothing line, etc. Not too mention, known for her amazing (professional) dancing skills, her ICONIC fashion tastes, her work ethic, her flawless beauty, her beautiful and still humble soul (never forgets where she started), and her philanthropic contributions.

Meanwhile their faves can barely make a name for themselves or make a mark in more than one industry while Jennifer Lopez made it look so easy in almost all of them. I mean its hard not to hate her. #PoorThem

Her voice and herself as a performer are very underrated by the great public, in my opinion. Her music should be more consistent, tho.

That being said, I do love J. Lo and I enjoy her early songs, but it's frustrating to see her keep trying to release music. And I actually gave A.K.A. a chance and still love "I Luh Ya Papi"

Yes, but it's her fault. She was more concerned about being a celebrity she never bothered to sit still and focus on perfecting her craft as an artist. You can't keep jumping from one thing to another making mediocre to barely-passable efforts and still expect anybody to respect you.

As someone who bought J.Lo perfectly willing to give her a chance, only to go to picking up TIMT and finding it too atrocious to even listen halfway through, I can honestly say she brought it on herself. After throwing the CD This Is Me Then into the garbage bin, I swore to myself i would never buy another product from her again. And judging by her subsequent album sales, it looks like the rest of the world promised themselves the same thing.
