She wanted to create a psychedelic/dreamy effect to the listener. That's why the songs are longer than usual. And the lenght is working perfect.

Too bad the song lengths on Honeymoon are just as long! There were multiple 3 minute songs on Ultraviolence, no songs besides Don't Let Me Be Understood are under 4 minutes on Honeymoon.

I personally might not be no producer, or "studying" to be one, but I agree with you. I actually wasn't even aware that it gets hate, maybe on ATRL...but not from people I know outside of this forum. Ultraviolence is brilliantly put together and absolutely her best, most cohesive album to date.

I can only hope Honeymoon continues that acclaim!

I'm all here for the long lengths. People who worry about them aren't even going into the song objectively. It's all about PROGRESSION. And all of the longer songs on UV did so perfectly. Shades and Brooklyn are my top two there and both punch towards 6 minutes and I fuxking love it.
