In the US you have a 0.003% chance of being shot in a given year. That means that if you live for 80 years you have a 0.24% chance of being shot. It may not look huge but it is, especially compared to other developed countries.

Even population-standardised though, America stands well out.

I know it's not typical for the average American, but it's certainly more typical than for the rest of the western world (possibly even combined)

Can people be a little more SENSITIVE? Two people were murdered by a man that, no matter what pushed him to do what he did, was wrong. We get that there might be a racial issue behind all of this, but the "well, she kind of had it coming then" actitude that some people could read in some of these comments, most of them made on social media, is disrespectful. Trying to justify what this man did is not the way to deal with the problem.

It's kind of racist in itself to just assume a white American woman is racist. Obviously we don't know the full facts but someone who kills two people and even goes on to videotape the murders cannot be sane and does not have the mindset to rationalize certain things.
