Where in the article does it say that he used work computers?
Anyway, bullying is bullying. What you're bullied for in your teen years fades. It's child stuff that even the people who tormented you won't remember 5 years after high school. Adult world stuff lingers. This guy was a police chief with 25 years experience.
Now he's dead. Is it directly linked to the data breach? We don't know yet. But in the real world, things like this can destroy your whole life, everything you've worked for. My being called a (rhymes with maggot) in high school and cutting myself and being miserable doesn't affect my life today. It pretty much all went away when I walked out of high school for the last time. The jocks and other people who used to make fun of me now add me on Facebook or wave or invite me over at the bars.
So this information gets leaked right? What impact would that have on him? Would he lose his pension? What are the actual consequences of this? This is public image. It's a delicate thing. That's why we have privates lives. Private lives are complicated and messy and out of our control. Maybe his wife knew. Maybe they were separated and both were encouraged to date other people in the meantime and he chose AM and she chose eHarmony.
See all these ifs? There's not enough information to say "karma's a bitch" or "I don't feel bad for him". It's so incredibly rude. The man is dead not matter how it happened.
