This thread is comparing her "unwanted appearance" at the 2014 Oscars to a year later when she headlined the show and garnered a standing ovation from the audience. No one is talking about missed promo opportunities.
And all the backlash she was getting from ARTPOP etc. (over nothing, she was hated as if she killed someone) ....

The fact that Gaga was the MOST talked about moment at the biggest awards show of the year and she isn't even an actress just came to slap those 2014 haters in the face.
Has anything really changed? The public's perception is still the same of her. She just created a lot of buzz from the Oscars because she shocked everyone. Nobody was aware she was capable of it. But since then she hasn't done anything noteworthy and her outrageous past still outshines her Oscars moment.
I remember when she went in 2014 and she walked the red carpet & no one from the crowd like, cheered for her or applauded her or anything and she went by completely unnoticed I'm glad she was better received in 2015!
