Everybody likes nice things I guess, but I don't go out of my way to have them. If I have a little extra money at the end of the month AFTER basic needs are met, then I'll buy something nice. There are more important things in life.
I am not materialistic but I do love my Apple Kit. I use the money most people spend on alcohol for that. I buy stuff because it looks good on me and I prefer not to have visible fashion labels on my clothes if i can reasonably avoid it. I'm not afraid of spending the money on things I think are good looking on me. I don't care about expensive cars or homes. Id rather have the money so i can do other things. Most of my shoes are $200-$300 shoes. but I wear free shirts that were given to me at tech meetups and the like. So it's a balancing act.
