I noticed that Huffington Post and others refer to Black Monday to describe the stock markets tumbling today.

Why does the media describe crazy and terrible things happening with Black? Why is black a synonym for bad or something bad happening? Is the media conditioning us to hate all things black including black people?

Thread is doing the most. The negative association with the color black goes far further back than people of African descent being called "black". And I'm not even sure white people gave them that name, as we all now they used ******/negro/coloured, not sure if it was them or black ppl themselves who coined the term "black".

+ I think this is a mainly western thing. I read (not 100% sure) that in some Asian cultures, white has a negative association, rather than (or in addition to) black. It may be Japan I'm thinking of, but not sure.

The racism is not naming things 'black' to mean bad. It's the name of the skin colours.

Black people aren't actually black and white people aren't actually white.

Black is just seen as worse in my opinion.

For example, when Taylor Swift stands up for herself it's "feminism" but when Azealia does, it's "black woman gone wild".
