If it wasn't for this performance Britney wouldn't be able to take off her suit on stage today, Beyonce wouldn't be able to shake her booty in leotards and revealing outfits, Aguilera wouldn't be able to get "dirrty" and wear ass-baring pants, Lady Gaga wouldn't be able to roll over the stage with a Bubbles outfit. A performance that defined the meaning of "be yourself" and pushing the envelope.

You CANNOT get on stage in 1984 and roll over the stage in such a revealing outfit and these sexual moves during a prime time live telecast. You would get murdered, swallowed and thrown away. She broke that boundary and took the biggest risk. In 2009 it's nothing special, in 1984 it's a defining moment in music history.

That makes sense. Madonna truly open the doors to a lot of artists, I see, and I can't take this performance being better than some performances this year. Props to Madonna for being that brave.
The whole floor humping and rolling was NOT rehearsed. That's a known fact. MTV wouldn't have let her do that if it was rehearsed. Go watch 'VMAs Uncensored'.
