I'm gonna say this: I won't be happy if this album is Ultraviolence 2.0 because I want Lana to evolve. I don't like artists that do the same record over and over again.

I like 2/3 songs this era and i'm very happy so far but I will be disappointed if she does a redundant record.

Guys you need to check your ears because HM doesn't sound at all like UV. Are we even listening to the same songs?

Nah. There's nothing on UV like Honeymoon (song). Terrence neither. The production, delivery and lyrics are completely different. The lyrics are more ambitious as well.

Not to be rude or anything but it's like you didn't listen to Ultraviolence. Your comparisons scream casual fan who say all her stuff is the same when it isn't.

An album with songs like Prisoner probably would be a huge BTD-style hit, but that's cause Prisoner is commercial. She obviously isn't aiming to be so.

wtf? it sounds nothing like Cruel World.

Let me break it down:

- The vocals in Cruel World have this fussyness about them pretty much very single UV songs have this "old record player" filter on her voice.
- There's a "beat" in Cruel World plus guitars EVERYHERE. Every song on UV has a guitar in it except for one song "Old Money".

It's nothing alike.

The single cover has nothing to do with the songs but ok.

The new songs are much closer to Paradise ep and HBTB is closer to BTD.

Honeymoon and TLY sound like a grown up mature evolution of Paradise ep.

HBTB sounds like a more urban BTD.

Prisoner sounds like BTD demos without the strings.

I agree about mature Paradise. Even Ground Control reference to Bowie equates to The Beatles diamonds in the sky from Cola.

Cruel World has a chaotic, agressive sound and the repetitive song structure creates a psychedelic effect. The instruments used to create the instrumental were electric guitars, synthesizers and drums.
Terrence Loves You is a peaceful piano driven ballad which uses strings, trumpets and saxophones. Also, the strong structure is the basic one.
