I don't know him. What has he done that is making everyone on the forum dislike him so much?

His family - from TLC's now-canceled 19 Kids and Counting - are extremely devout Christians (whose lifestyle borders on Amish) and he used to work in politics. They're known for having very harsh views toward the LGBT community, saying that they harm the institution of family and marriage, that transgenders will molest women in bathrooms, etc.

Earlier this summer, a big scandal came out over the fact that he had molested some of his sisters 12 years ago. The parents dealt with it in-house and took all kinds of steps to prevent it, but the authorities were not alerted until years after the fact (when the statute of limitations had passed and he couldn't be prosecuted). A lot of people viewed that as the parents covering it up, while others felt that for them to have the TV show without the public knowing was covering it up further.

Now Ashley Madison (eHarmony for married people who want an affair) was hacked and customer data released, his name was included and he was revealed to have spent nearly $1,000 on the website.

He molested his little sisters, and now he was revealed to have an Ashley Madison account and an okcupid one. Him and his family are textbook hypocritical Christians that frown on gay marriage and yet had their disgusting secrets exposed

That's ok, Josh. You can shirk accountability because you profess a belief in two mysterious forces; one that compels you to behave horribly and overpowers all goodness within your being, and another that absolves you of your "sins" because you are trying (but mostly failing) to "follow His example" and live righteously. It's your half-hearted efforts and half-hearted apologies that count, right? Surely, you are still among God's chosen.

I'm always amused and horrified by people who have been so deeply perverted by religion. It's that fervent Christian upbringing that informs just about every awful thing Josh Duggar does. He's part of a culture that demonizes sex and in doing so, unintentionally contributes to the sexual perversions of its most deluded adherents. A weak-willed Bible-thumper can only repress those carnal desires for so long before a perverse curiosity takes over. I'm not offering up an excuse for guys like Josh to cower behind — what he's done to his sisters is indefensible and unforgivable — but there's a reason so many of these "moral crusaders" get ensnared in these sexual scandals, and it has a lot to do with the ideas that a) wrongdoings do not matter, so long as one has faith in God and asks him for guidance, and b) Christian dogma instills in some people this unhealthy need to "explore" (without regard for the consent or feelings of others) this "taboo" thing.

And then there's the role that patriarchy plays — that Christian men are kinda-sorta above reproach and free-ish to commit all sorts of indiscretions because they are God's favored gender and women be causing problems — but we'll get into that another time.
