Democrats only win when blacks show up and show out for elections. So, thought I don't agree with some of the tactics of BLM groups I'm glad theyre challenging these candidates, because a lot of time their mind frame is "well I'm a democrat so blks are going to vote for me since I'm the lesser of two evils yada yada yada" and they address issues on everything except for the ones affecting African American communities. This lets them know they don't have a lock on the blk vote and forces them to go back and promote policies of racial equality.

Honestly, they don't have much of a choice.
You're telling me that they're going to push their votes away from the Dems and vote for someone like Trump or Bush?
The Dems will always have the black vote just due to how the Republicans are portrayed.
I like the way they're challenging these politicians, but they really do need to have a united voice and a list of things they actually want to accomplish, rather than just protesting.

That wasn't the point. The point was that the dems want to make sure they're getting blks out to the poll.

That's only based on where you live in the country.
Getting African-American's out to vote in 2016 definitely matters for Democrats, but getting millennials and Latino's out to vote matters much more when you crunch the numbers.

Actually the only matter much more IF the key constituents keep voting historically for their party. And for blacks it happens to be dems
For example the Latino vote is matters much more now because they are swing voters, aka voters who could easily choose one side or the other that's why it matters. However if you don't get your "regular" voters out, it doesn't matter how many swing voters you get, you can't win. All in all getting every group out matters, not just one particular group

This mentality is the reason why no politician actually cares to do anything about black issues when they get into office. Neither party feels the need to work for black votes.

Hillary's right though, the BLM movement is quickly becoming very meaningless with no clear goals or objectives. I say this as a black person so don't come at me.

"I say this as respectfully as I can," one of the activists said in response, "but you don't tell black people what we need to do. And we won't tell you all what you need to do."
|
Surely, Hilary is right though. Their response was petty imo. It sounded like she's trying to help them but their ego wouldn't take it. Someone please tell me if I'm interpreting that wrong..
|
Hillary is absolutely right, from a sociological perspective. A social movement without stated goals to work towards will fall apart without accomplishing anything. Just like at #Occupy. They were poorly organized, and they did nothing.
But the activist is right in that we, as white people, don't get to tell black people how to organize, what their goals should be, etc. The person is also right that black people shouldn't have to tell (white) people in power how to help them. But there needs to be communication between both groups if they have any hope of achieving anything. This is a good start, I guess.

Hillary was giving them helpful advice on how they can gain political traction with the movement, though. Is that not what they wanted?
She doesn't know how to support the BLM movement if the BLM movement doesn't even know specifically what they want.

1. If they are too stupid to take good advice just because the color of the persons skin then they deserve to fail.
2. Lolol.... are you kidding me? So the BLM movement just wants to yell, scream, bitch, and cry, but then leave it up to white people to figure out how to "help them"?
This whole movement is a mess. Shame that such an incredibly important issue is being handled by these clowns

Bill Clinton did a lot to **** black rights. He instituted policies that led to high incareration rates for minorities and approved low-cost housing (which were populated by black people for the most part) around the country to be demolished in favor of more expensive real estate. Hillary never really spoke against it. Not her fault but she has denounced it or anything.
