yeah, but that's because it's a stereotype that this movie was never intended to fight against. There were and are probably similar clauses saying blonde people cannot play smart people unless its in an ironic way (i.e. Legally Blonde) and men shorter than 5'9" cannot play leading roles (minus Tom Cruise). It's not right, but Hollywood's not in the business of fighting stereotypes.
The difference is that the blonde stereotype did not stop blond actresses from getting roles where they played smart people (See Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Charlize, Helen Hunt, Scarlett etc)
This is not only a stereotype but also a result of years and years of portrayals of black people in a negative light.
We can agree to disagree though. I don't believe anything I could say can change your mind at this point. However the only way for us to break those barriers and destroy those stereotypes is to speak up & point how wrong they are.

Of course you'd jump to Asian bc you know there aren't a lot of them in Compton. There are PLENTY of latino and mixed race people though. Enough that all of the "D list" girls shouldn't absolutely have to be black. Also if you wanna talk about what you don't see in Compton, we could definitely talk about the lack of modelesque white women walking around yet they wanted those.
Can you explain why you're upset with what I said? We blame Hollywood and certain producers for "whitewashing" everything but yet they only do that because the average consumer (and yes, I'm putting the blame on the average, middle-class white person) refuses to support media regularly that stars dark-skinned individuals.

It comes down to this: a major motion picture was cast under the rule of white/light skinned = A-list and black/dark-skinned = D-list. There's really nothing else to "get."
