Release a second album quickly or get dropped? Lmaoo
Rihanna was never considered to get dropped. Since music of the sun Rihanna has always delivered lead hit singles to be able to push out albums.
In order for a releasing artist to get considered to be dropped is when the lead single FLOPS and the album never gets pushed out, or does and flops which Rihanna has never done.
A lot of girls like Christina Milian had their budgets cut for Rihanna after A Girl Like Me though
Music of the Sun was a huge flop. It had a massive lead single and the album struggled to go Gold (which is really bad for a 2005 album with a smash hit). And the second single was a dud.
I believe that Rihanna could have been dropped over it. Before "SOS" she seemed like a one hit wonder.
From what I heard if SOS wasn't a hit they were going to drop her. You have to remember at that point she was a one hit wonder and the second single (If It's Lovin' That You Want) had flopped majorly in the US and the album probably wasn't selling well off of just Pon De Replay so it's believable to me that they were thinking about that but who really knows
