Forbes Top Earning Musicians Under 30
Quote:
To compile the list of top-earning young musicians, Forbes considered the gross earnings of artists younger than 30 years. Earning estimates include income from album sales, touring, endorsement and licensing deals, and television and film roles from June 2008 to June 2009.
#1 Beyonce - $87 million

Since last June, Queen B dropped a double album, starred in two films, performed at both the Oscars and the Presidential Inaugural Ball and embarked on what is expected to be, at minimum, a 110-date international tour. She also expanded a fashion collection that includes casual and formal lines as well as jewelry and eyeglasses, and added sponsors Nintendo, Crystal Geyser and General Mills to a roster of endorsers already including L'Oréal, Giorgio Armani and Samantha Thavasa handbags.
#2 Britney Spears - 35 million

The tabloids' favorite train wreck is back on track. After a very public meltdown in 2007, she released Circus last November. The album became one of the fastest-selling records of 2008, moving 1.5 million copies in three months. The singer launched a tour in March, which grossed $24 million with the first 13 concerts.
#3 Miley Cyrus - 25 million
#4 Jonas Brothers - 25 million
#5 Jessica Simpson - 20 million

Since she released her first pop hit nearly 10 years ago, Jessica Simpson has been in and out of mass appeal. She found moderate success and earned her first No.1 album upon releasing the country record Do You Know last year. But, the core of her financial success comes from her licensing deals, as her lifestyle brand that includes clothing, shoes, and accessories continues to do well.
#6 Lil Wayne - 18 million

Since Lil' Wayne started his hip-hop career as a teenager with the group Hot Boys, he has blossomed into a mainstream celebrity with hits like "Tha Block is Hot" and "Lollipop." This year, he pulled in an estimated $10 million from his 65-show mega-tour. His latest album, Tha Carter III, went platinum in its opening week. Follow-up Tha Carter IV is reportedly in the works. The artist has a starring role alongside Forrest Whitaker in the film Hurricane Season, which is due out later this year. Longtime buddy Birdman reportedly gave Lil Wayne $1 million in cash for his 26th birthday last October.
#7 Taylor Swift -15 million
#8 Rihanna - 15 million

The 21-year-old star spent the last year riding out the success of her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad, which was released in the summer of 2007. The album was re-released in June of last year with additional tracks and remixes. She hit the road in 2008 with Nas and Lupe Fiasco as part of Kanye West’s "Glow in the Dark Tour." Known for her style, Rihanna also inked an endorsement contract with Gucci last fall.
#9 Tpain - 15 million
#10 Carrie Underwood - 14 million
