In general, black history is erased, even heterosexual heroes, so it's no surprise black LGBT heroes are unsung, especially considering the white majority is deaf to the concerns and issues of its minority counterparts - see this thread for receipts - AND they control LGBT media now.

Of course they do. There is artwork, songs, and countless things that poc do to celebrate poc lgbt+ but then its get shat on whenever whitewashed hollywood comes along.

But the issue is if there's work being done to honour such heros by their own community why isn't it being shown?
You say there are countless of songs e.t.c yet I haven't heard of one yet and highly doubt you have either.
Anyway the point is we're complaining about white media whitewashing the movement when the black community itself is hardly doing anything itself and this isn't being stated to excuse what's being done but to highlight on these unsung heroes so I don't know why y'all are so defensive

Why is it such an issue when someone highlights concerns such as these? I am perfectly fine and love the colour of my skin and me posting something like this doesn't warrant such a reaction as this

The fact that you didn't even give an answer to the matter at hand but made all these wild accusations just proves my point.

We had to read Sonny's Blues and Go Tell It on the Mountain in class (lots of classes read his essays as well but we didn't) and my teacher made it no secret that a lot of the people involved in the Harlem Renaissance were queer.

Definitely had to read Giovanni's Room on my own though. Best written gay/bi themed book ever if you ask me. Still haven't read Another Country though.

and for the songs/the reasoning for it not being plastered all over the place.
Media is to be sold. Oppression and the past doesn't make the bucks.
