I used a Timbuk2 messenger bag (not really sure if that's what you're looking for tho) for the last 4 years and I can tell you the quality is amazing. Sadly, they are not selling the exact model anymore. I also have a backpack like this, but I find it easier to go with the bag. But if you're looking for a backpack, that one is also having an amazing quality + you have warranty for a very long time, which is also very beneficial.
I'm willing to pay around 150-200$ max.
