Also there's definitely more to what happened with Michael behind the scene. I remember reading that the Dallas Cowboys only signed him to get good PR. In the end they dropped him.

Basically. I was watching ESPN on my break and they basically said the same thing, and I tend to agree. It's a sad situation, but I feel he will bounce back somehow somewhere else.

Anyway. I'm not surprised. Once you come out and you have any notoriaty, being gay will be who you are, not just a apart of who you are. Everything you do the public will be talking about you being gay. You become the gay thing. Which is sad, that was the only thing being discussed about this guy. So when people choose not to come out but at the same time be happy being gay I can't blame them. Because the second they go out loud that's the second they become a media gimmick.

I disagree with that he was a bad player. He was good enough in college and never would have gotten drafted if he was so horrible.

The problem was that he was gay, so he had to be even better than what he was to make it "worth it" for people to keep him with all the media spotlight and attention. Someone else basically already said this.

I'm torn between thinking that he shouldn't have had to hide his boyfriend away because straight players don't do the same with their GFs AND thinking that maybe he shouldn't have came all the way out too soon.

Tough.

He was decent at the University of Mizzou...let's not act like he was some Heisman trophy candidate, now.
He probably could of made it in the NFL, he just got caught up in all the press...and basically quit caring about the things he had to do to become a better player in the NFL. I knew he wasn't serious about playing football when he went on "Dancing With The Stars".
