I don't see it that way. If I find someone and we establish a solid life together, that's security. After a few years establishing that security, we can go on vacations, we can travel if we want - building a financial safety net and having a secure job is important to me, and will lend it to those things not too far down the road if I'm careful and smart about how I do things for a little while.

Well of course, but I have a reasonable expectation and I'm not going to settle for something like $40k for a full time job in Des Moines in this field. I
expect $50k to be honest, but of course I'll take the best job I can get if that doesn't happen and work my way up.
