What impact has Taylor made?

I'm laughing by the fact that he says that Taylor has more memorable moments than Lady Gaga, I mean, in what planet?

No one has even mentioned the meat dress but it's in top of your mind as I can see. Once again, when stanning for Madonna becomes sad...

Neither. I only know Taylor because of the Kanyegate and Gaga because of Telephone (with Beyonce). Most of my homeboys have heard of Tay (because of the Kanyegate) and still don't know who Gaga is. So I don't think either one have made that much of an impact. I think Taylor is more known though(at least in the U.S.)

Gaga is synonymous of IMPACT.

Gaga probably has a ton of votes because of her unusual imagery and artistry. She makes headlines by bleeding onstage, wearing meat dresses, being birthed from an egg, etc. The list goes on. But this is the exact reason why she burned out; she could only "out-weird" herself so much, and people got tired of it. This, along with the quality of Artpop's music, ultimately led to her downfall. Furthermore, her "iconic" moments are usually for nothing more than shock value and publicity, yet her album sales and concert grosses still fall short of Taylor's, who doesn't rely on meat dresses and reverse Warholian experiences.

Does Gaga have memorable moments? Yes, but they don't mean much. I would say that the only important impact she had on the music industry is spearheading the dance-pop trend of 2008/2009 with RedOne's help and maybe bringing cinematic visuals back to music videos. But at this point, even Taylor is beating her at her own game, with Blank Space being the most viewed female video and Bad Blood holding the 24-hour record.

In the end, Taylor ends up impacting many more people when it comes to sheer volume. She has more video views than Gaga and more followers on social media than Gaga. When she posts a picture on Instagram, 30M more people receive it than if Gaga had posted the same image. Taylor is the first artist in history to open with 1M+ copies three times (consecutively, to boot!). She has her intended audience on lock, and she is a fantastic businesswoman, whereas Gaga's base seemingly dissolved after Born This Way. She has the nerve to drop out of Spotify and the influence to change Apple's policies. When people look back on our era in popular music, Taylor will be seen as a standard for success, and all of it came without any shock tactics.

So for those reasons, Taylor has more impact.

Wow so many pressed Gaga fans......Tell me the impact that Gaga had different from the legends before her.... Swift is more relevant now, few years into her career, than Gaga at her beginning/peak.... Everybody talks about her and she's definately more followed everywhere she goes (literally by thousand people) in New York than Gaga with her monsters... And her streaming decisions, support of the other artists made news everywhere... There's big pressure sourronding her and she never falls into drugs or bad lifestyle...

More impact as in what? Pop Culture? When I really think about, I don't think either of the two have had much of an impact.

Edit: okay, when I think about it, didn't Gaga usher in the era of pop stars wearing crazy and over the top outfits? I guess that would be a sort of impact.
