Random, but can everyone stop saying season 4 sucks balls, thanks. I personally loved the cinematography and the themes were on point. I had such a strong connection with some of the characters in that season--Twisty. The whole Bette vs Dot plot was genius as well.
Stop telling people to skip season 4, it's personally my favorite season.

Elsa Mars is the best and most complex character in American Horror Story. Lana Winters is close.

Bette and Dot were like the most annoying and weakest characters in Freak Show.

Freak Show is almost universally accepted as the worst season, so the reason everyone is telling people to skip it is because, statistically, they won't like it.
It sucks. It lacked coherence, it lacked plot, it lacked good writing, it lacked good acting (bar like 3 actors), it lacked good characters (bar 4 characters), and lacked literally anything you need for a good, solid season.
The cinematography doesn't make up for the fact that it was a **** season. Who cares if it looks good if there's no substance to it?
Meanwhile, Coven had the best cinematography, and almost was the best season if not for the last 2 episodes, and Asylum had both great cinematography, directing, acting, writing, coherence, plot & was totally perfect.

Well, it did suck. It's universally considered the worst season by fans (it is).
Regardless, I'm more concerned you relate with a killer psycho clown the most tbh

I'm even more concerned that he related to a killer psycho clown that wasn't even in half of the season... I'm still not over them killing Twisty so early... like, who thought that was a good idea?

I didn't relate to Twisty. I connected with his character because he was supposed to be a
monster of a person but ended up being just a sick/confused man. I just love the idea of characters turning out into something we never expected.

Twisty was seriously the light at the end of the tunnel for that series and they broke it off...
Last season was a mess, I hope Hotel is better

Freakshow was my least favorite because there was no main plotline throughout the season. Also, the theme wasn't scary......every other season, the main theme was the source of horror, but sometimes with Freakshow I felt like I was watching Glee....it became a drama at times. To add horror they brought in Twisty, who lasted a few episodes and then Dandy, who was an extremely predictable character who almost became a parody of the character they were trying to have.
I thought Chester was a pointless addition, but as a character he was far more interesting and complex.
And the pointless musical numbers.....including artists from 50 years into the future like Lana Del Rey and Fiona Apple

Wait, are you arguing that a certain opinion is right because the majority of people agree to it? What kind of fallacious argument.  Aesthetics effect everybody in different ways, if S4 is my favorite season then that's it. There's no discussion or reason to prove me wrong, it's an opinion; people agree or disagree but it doesn't make it wrong. Gross, didn't think this thread was so one-sided. Out.

The overreaction 
My point was, the reason people keep telling people to skip FS is because it was generally perceived as bad, and it wouldn't be unlikely for the person to dislike it, either. I wasn't arguing that any opinion was right or wrong, so much as I was saying that it's obvious that a near-universally-panned season isn't going to appeal to that many people.
