I always thought that they were only pr and this seems like confirmed, I mean after it didn't work for making them more famous and both of their singles were not hits, it was supposed to happen, I feel bad for Austin he is losing his chances of making it in the industry.
that's too bad, but I can understand why traveling and focusing on their careers could be hard on their relationship. They are still really close though so I won't be surprised if they get back together sometime.
