Annie Lennox's daughter survived a kayaking accident in upstate New York on Saturday - but her boyfriend is still missing and authorities fear he has drowned.
Tali Lennox, 22, and her partner Ian Jones, 32, were on the Hudson River by Mills Mansion, a historic home near Staatsburg, when their tandem kayak overturned around 10am.
Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said: 'We believe that alcohol may have played a role' in the incident.
A very strong current in the river is also thought to have been a factor. Neither Lennox or Jones were wearing life preservers at the time.
Lennox was picked up by a passing boat after being separated from Jones in the water. But her boyfriend is still missing more than 24 hours after disappearing into the river.
Authorities used 'extensive resources' to search for Jones after a 911 call reported him missing.
Investigators believe Jones, who was wearing jeans and a denim shirt, is still somewhere in the Hudson. They resumed their search on Sunday morning after suspending it at 5.30pm on Saturday when water conditions became too rough.
The Sheriff's Office's Marine Patrol, dive team and other officers began looking again at 7.30am in the same area where Jones was last seen.
Lennox was uninjured and was not taken to hospital, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported. She has been dating Jones for several years.
Watterson said. 'The current in the Hudson River is very strong and we believe the current played a role in the kayak capsizing, and once the two got in the water it was difficult for them to stay together.
'We're doing everything we can to find him. We hope to find him alive and well.'
A New York State Police helicopter and numerous officers from a number of agencies also aided in the search effort for Jones, according to Hudson Valley News Network.
Reps for Tali Lennox did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Mail Online.
Jones's last posting on Instagram was a black-and-white picture of Lennox working on a painting.
He captioned it: 'In the Zone #TheEssentials #TaliLennox #Painter.'
Friends have been posting messages such as 'Ian? Are you there? My friend just told me something I don't want to believe' and 'Brother man Ian I hope everything's ok!!!'
Jones disappeared not far from where a previous kayaking incident evolved into a murder charge earlier this year.
Staatsburg is about 60 miles north of where Vincent Viafore disappeared during an April 19 kayaking trip with fiancée Angelika Graswald.
She told authorities his kayak capsized accidentally and she couldn't save him. But prosecutors say she later admitted tampering with his kayak to cause his death.
No foul play is suspected in Jones's disappearance, authorities said.
