As a Christian myself, I had a really difficult time understanding the NT parts but after taking a Bible class in college, from a teacher who actually speaks Hebrew, I learned that there are SO many mistranslations in the English version of the Bible, especially in parts dealing with sexual acts because there are no proper words to translate to so they find the next closest thing.
And IIRC, even in the OT, the 'man shall not lie with another man' verse was referring to the way adult men were using young boys for sex...not actual homosexual relationships.

the bible is a sci-fi book written by human beings, during a time when nothing was as it is today.

take a manual or old add that suggests how you should use the internet in 1996 and compare it to today's internet. half of the crimes we witness today, didnt even exist back then, also half of the opportunities and scientific proof didnt exist.

and then the bible exists of texts by "witnesses" but the problem is that those "witnesses" lived many decades or even hundreds of years later of the events they are talking about. I mean I could write a "witness" report about how life was in Europe in 1901.. but i weren't there..so i can compose laws and a text that fits my own personal beliefs of the truth.

and even back then when the bible was composed.. all those stories were passed down orally.. like fairytales. there weren't many ppl who could read or even a library full of information... if you wanted to "interview" someone who was actually a witness you would have to travel to that person...sometimes thousands of miles.

it's all very shaky. i wouldnt trust the bible one bit. But I acknowledge one lesson it stands for bc I believe it to be the most important commandment by any religion: Love thy neighbour as you love yourself.

that one line is the true essential of what religion should stand for.

^ Literally i mean why the hell would anyone follow a book that was written by god knows who at god knows when, for all we know the bible could've just been a massive troll by someone but hey whatever people need to live i guess
