That's why we play elections out. Literally two months ago it was "he won't be a threat" and now he's polling close to Hillary and drawing massive crowds wherever he goes. The last time HC ran she was the favorite, then someone came from the left of HER, and crushed her dreams of the White House for another 8+ years. And let's not act like people didn't doubt his legitimacy b/c of America not being ready for a black POTUS/him being too inexperienced in the senate, etc.
I find it just as likely to your little scenario that many on the left won't turn out if Hillary gets the nomination, making it easier for the Repubs to win. He is energizing the base and tapping into the youth in a way that no other candidate is doing, and in a way that hearkens back to how Obama pulled off his run in 2008. I know I probably won't bother voting if it's Hillary vs *insert repub*.
Furthermore, a recent CNN poll shows Bernie beats all republican candidates in a 1-v-1 scenario, even with his campaign still basically in it's infancy, with all that untapped potential. Hillary Clinton and the (generally pro-HC) mainstream media are Bernie's only competition right now. Stop listening to the narrative the media is desperate to pass off, that he can't win so we shouldn't even try.
