Actually, it makes total sense. A copyright trial can be handled very quickly and doesn't need tons of evidence and looking into to figure things out. It doesn't take much to prove you infringed or plagiarized a song. On the other hand, a lot of that Kesha case so FAR seems to be "She says, he says," which means Kesha would lose every single time due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Seeing as she's in control of the case's pacing in the first place, it makes sense that she'd draw it out a bit to find more evidence to make the strongest one possible. And, you know, cases like that need far more time due to the serious subject nature to make sure facts are established. He certainly is NOT abusing Kesha while all of this is going on (there's probably some sort of restraining order in effect, not to mention it'd be basically handing her a win through sheer stupidity), so time probably isn't quite so serious to her either since she's away from him for now
Anyways, this case was long overdue. I hope he gets hit, because this guy does steal a lot of song productions/beats/etc.
