Ugandan school closes after male students caught having sex

A Uganda school is closed after two male students were reportedly ‘caught with their pants down’.
Ntare School, an boarding school that was once attended by President Yoweri Museveni, told all students to go home after they waged a ‘strike’.
The student body refused to study any longer if teachers or the school refused to punish the two gay students.
Reports suggest that two teenage boys were caught having sex by other students on Tuesday night. The school staff managed to save the two boys from being attacked, and were kept in a safe room to let the others settle down.
But the mob grew, the strike started, and the police had to be called. Police used teargas and even fired live bullets in the air to deal with the situation, acording to the police reports.
Students told journalists this was the reason for the mob violence, while the school’s principal claimed it was a case of minor theft.
Edwin Sesange, a Ugandan LGBTI rights activist, told Gay Star News that this kind of homophobic persecution indicates there is more work to be done on all levels.
‘It is high time for the fellow Ugandans to start teaching our children to love others instead of influencing them to hate others because of their sexuality or gender,’ the director of Out and Proud Diamond Group said.
‘These two young boys should be protected from the on-going persecution by the anti-gay masses.’
It's worrying how backwards some countries still are when it comes to sexuality. Not condoning what the students did but the way the situation was handled was messy.
I feel bad for all the gays living in these backwater countries
the way they view gays as subhuman is so disgusting, makes me glad I live somewhere that treats them halfway decent.
That's really sad for the students It makes you realise how lucky we are to live in countries that (generally) accept gays. It's unfair they have to live like this
Uganda is a scary place for gays. They could have found somewhere more private so they wouldn't be caught.
