No they weren't, now they're just as boring as the rest of the forums. Like it was the perfect middleground between Base section and SYG.
Sidenote: what ushered in the new rules?

There are plenty of other sites one can join if you want to be messy.

Blogs are for talking about yourself as I understand it. If you wanna tell us how your day went, then you make a blog.

They were never put into place to drag other members/mods/pop stars.

Don't like them, the blogs section has become useless when it was one of the best sections in the forum, now it's just plain boring.

It's just a move to further legitimize the site into the mainstream... you know like when Courtney Love got glamorous in the mid 1990's.

They were, regretably, necessary.

I remember back in my time everyone was so nice and friendly and the blog section was open to everyone and you could talk about how your day went, things bothering you that you don't like, upcoming cool and interesting events in your life, etc. now it's become a cesspool littered with people who thought it was okay to circumvent the rest of the site. If some people didn't take it SO FAR this would not be a problem but sadly it is.

Welp at least there won't be any more blogs dedicated to conspiring against other members. Besides that, blogs are now like an extension of The Lounge. Maybe people whined too much about Blogs through HRs in an attempt to get people warned and the mods couldn't take it.
