And urban radio is an exclusive format that only plays select black artists leaving white hip-hop artists in the dust. It's a double standard. Whites aren't "allowed" to enter a "black genre".
Not a reverse racism argument.
The reason they have to do that is because other stations won't play them as much as they play white people. Of course being a white rapper while also being in a genre that's a part of black culture and not understanding social issues for that group is another story altogether but one that should be recognized in this situation...
Pop music is seen as a white genre. Black people who make pop music often get labelled as modern R&B.
they never play Snoop's verse in California Gurls or Kanye's in E.T Remix or Juicy J in Dark Horse
2 Chainz is omitted from Talk Dirty
and i could go on and on
I don't think it's racist for pop radios (AC) to omit rap verses. People who aren't used to hip-hop get uncomfortable when they hear vulgar tones in the middle of a song. They did the same thing to Eminem's verses in LLTWYL.
You're using technicalities. It doesn't matter what box they check at the DMV. They're minorities, they face discrimination, they're more underrepresented than black artists in the entertainment industry.
We're a minority don't try to make us seem like we are in the same position as whites... we are in the same as African Americans. I always see people trying to dismiss us as saying latino is not a race, hispanic is not a race. We are a minority too and go thru the same as African Americans in the industry and in real life.... How many latinos do you see in the charts??? yeah that's what I thought.

Maybe because Spanish is not as widely spoken as English is in America? I agree that they're underrepresented, but it's not really the same situation.

Snoop Dogg's verse in California Gurls is as PG as they come and he was still omitted...Juicy's verse in DH isn't very vulgar either
and now i'n hearing this mess about Iggy's verse in Problem being removed...there's literally no excuse

Absolutely agree with this, but I don't think it calls for racism. More blacks do R&B-pop than pure pop albeit there is some mislabeling on black artists.
They're hispanic. They could also scream "RACISM!! INSTITUTIONAL DISCRIMINATION!!!!' every time they flop like certain black artists do. If anything they're more underrepresented than black artists.
I have never heard a white Latino like Pitbull or Alexis Bledel scream racism because they usually benefit from being white. Pitbull probably could because being Latino takes precedence over his actual race so he's perceived as non-white. Didn't you say once that Xtina isn't considered white because her dad is an Ecuadorian (who's white)?
And Enrique isn't Latin American, but people think he is.

Yes Iggy's verse was removed from Problem in AC and HAC stations as well. I heard it many times on those stations in Dallas and sounded weird as hell it had some sax break instead
He has a point but radio in general is a mess. Just look at urban radio. EVERY song in the top 20 is a hip hop leaning song, not one is R&B. And don't say it's because R&B is fading or people don't make it anymore because I Bet/Hard to Do/Million/Coffee are all great modern R&B songs.
It's sad that they can't coexist on the same format anymore.

Yeah, the omission of the Weeknd's verses in Elastic Hearr still baffles me. But these weird examples are on AC stations where older and more sensitive adults listen.

That's exactly what I said. Urban radio isn't exactly playing his music. It's Urban ADULT CONTEMPORARY. But then again, Urban radio is run by white people, too.
