Discussion: Would Survivor's Race Separation twist work in 2015?

In 2007, Survivor Cook Islands premiered with a race twist, four tribes composed of 4 different ethnic groups (Asians, Blacks, Hispanics and Caucasians) played for a chance for one million dollars. It caused some controversy, but still aired.

Superficially, it was idiotic to attempt but it ultimately gave the spotlight for different personalities within minority groups to shine. There wasn't a single "sassy black lady" or "smart asian nerd", they were all individuals with their own personalities. They were not caricatures of one another.

This led to more minority casting for the next season, which was supposed to be divided by race again but it was messed up due to one person quitting the night before the start.

Would you like to see the race twist come back? Would it be acceptable in 2015 with all of the racial tension? Would you like to see more minority casting on reality shows?

I wouldn't mind.

To make it more realistic however instead of snuffing the black contestants' torches when they're eliminated they should be shot by the usual white cop candidate.

There was only one cop on that season.

Cristina of the hispanic tribe was a police officer.

It wasn't that bad, 15 minorities were given slots on the show as opposed to 2 or 3.

That amount of minorities is a good thing for avoiding "token black" or "token asian" or whatever, but the way they went about it seems a bit iffy. I think it'd gain loads of attention and complaints in 2015 though.

I mean, at least they cast more than one or two minority contestants unlike Big Brother where you're lucky to see more than one person of color per season.

Girl, you're completely overreacting and missing the point. The race twist was definitely questionable, but not that big of a deal. If you watch the show, you'd know that mid-season they merge the tribes. Nothing to do with "segregation", honestly.

If separating people into groups based on race isn't segregation then PLEASE enlighten me as to what it actually is because apparently I've been wrong all these years
