His comments don't take into account that not everyone was "feigning outrage" about Cecil. Sure, a firestorm was whipped online - when isn't there one these days? But in the main, most people just got on with their lives. The kind of person who would "tweet about Cecil" is likely to be the kind of person who is easily whipped into a frenzy about passing news topics. Twitter is full of opportunistic weirdos desperate for attention who see nothing wrong with capitalising on stories such as this for personal gain. Genuine conservationists probably got on with their shift down at the cat shelter rather than announce their outrage online.
